Whether you’re an iPhone lover or an Android diehard, there’s no ignoring the recent release of Apple’s latest operating system. iOS 7 has taken the technology world by storm and isn’t letting up. But we’re not bringing you another post on iOS features, because let’s face it, there are plenty of those. Instead, we’re giving you a breakdown of Apple’s always-on and ever-powerful marketing strategies.
Why the iOS 7 hype?
It is no secret that Apple has its power over its massive followers and the media as well. Whether it’s a new phone or a new operating system, creating a buzz and building hype about their products are second nature to this marketing powerhouse.
Apple uses several marketing tricks to build excitement about whatever the latest product is. The main one, as we’re all probably aware of, is their policy of secrecy, right up to the day of release. In fact, before the iPhone 5 was released in 2012 there was speculation of what the new phone would look like, what it would be named, etc. Would there be an entirely new design? Would there be new colors? What about phone size and screen size? None of these minute but very important details were released until the actual release date.
A few of the other tricks: making it seem like there won’t be enough of the product, a beautiful end product design and packaging, grandiose stores with endless Genius’ to help at all times, and the ideals behind the company.
iOS 7 was no exception. Apple built its hype using all of its usual marketing techniques. The main two used here? A beautiful end product that shook up what Apple users have been used to for a few iPhone generations, and the secrecy of the design. Even the iPhone 5 didn’t come with a new operating system. This one is bright with all new icons and has tons of new features to make even the older generations of iPhones feel brand new again.
Many applications running on Apple’s operating system had to recreate themselves to merge smoothly with the new specs. Do you have the Infolinks Mobile App? You’ll be happy to know it’s iOS 7 compatible. If you don’t have it – what are you waiting for?
